CONCEPT
The goal of the Waves Table is to capture the breathtaking fossilized sand dune formations found in Waves National Monument, Arizona. The Park has fossilized sand dunes that have eroded over millions of years into beautiful layers of sedimentary rock. To get into the park you have to enter a raffle which marks it quite difficult to get in. This is one of the reasons I picked this park to make it more accessible to people.
The use of ash hardwood throughout the piece emulates the textures and striation of the sedimentary rock forms found throughout the park. The glass at the top of the table allows the viewer to experience smooth-rolling elevations of these unique formations.
